How to Build a One-Person Unicorn with AI
We are living through an extraordinary moment. During my keynote at the International Congress on Educational Innovation (CINNED), held at UPAEP University in Puebla, Mexico, I shared a powerful idea: artificial intelligence is democratizing entrepreneurship like never before. What once required large teams, millions in funding, and years of development can now be achieved by individuals with the right tools, vision, and determination.
Starting a Business in the Age of AI
With over two decades of experience in artificial intelligence — including founding and successfully exiting Inbenta, a leading natural language processing company — I’ve seen firsthand the radical transformation of what it means to be an entrepreneur.
Today, anyone with an internet connection can realistically dream of building a billion-dollar company. Yes, a unicorn. How? By leveraging the three pillars of AI-driven entrepreneurship.
1. Product Development with AI Tools
The first step is building a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Tools like Lovable, Bolt, and Replit allow you to build functional products without deep programming knowledge. These platforms, powered by generative AI, can write code, design user interfaces, and create backend services — often in a matter of hours, not months.
2. Process Automation
Entrepreneurship is about doing more with less. That’s why automation is key. Tools like N8N, Zapier, and Make help automate repetitive tasks — from sales prospecting to regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO, HIPAA). Even complex certification processes can be accelerated with platforms like Vanta.

3. Virtual Teams: The Rise of Digital Employees
AI isn’t just coding your backend — it can also fill real business roles. These “digital employees” can:
- Handle 24/7 customer service via smart chatbots
- Write and manage blog and social content
- Prospect and qualify leads
- Automatically respond to RFPs and generate technical documentation
Why the SaaS Model Wins
During my talk, I highlighted why Software as a Service (SaaS) is the perfect business model for this era:
- High automation with minimal human involvement
- Global scalability without physical offices
- High contribution margins
- Instant product delivery
- Attractive valuations for investors
A Future Within Reach
I closed my talk with an honest yet hopeful message: the entrepreneurial journey isn’t easy
"I sleep like a baby — I wake up every two hours crying."but with today’s AI tools, the dream of building something meaningful is more attainable than ever.
AI doesn’t replace the entrepreneur — it empowers them. It lowers the barrier to entry, reduces costs, and unlocks unprecedented potential. There has never been a better time to turn your idea into impact.
