Jordi: Hello everyone and welcome to the TORRAS AI Podcast. Today, I'm thrilled to introduce Chris Bechtel, a seasoned marketing executive with over 20 years of experience in B2B SaaS. As the VP of Marketing at Interface.ai, Chris is involved in marketing AI solutions. Chris has also mentored startups at Techstars and held key roles at Boost.ai and Inbenta, specializing in AI and NLP solutions. With a BA in Cinema and Communications from San Francisco State University, Chris combines strategic insights with hands-on execution. Chris, thank you so much for being with us today.

Chris: Thanks Jordi, great to be here with you. Thanks for that excellent introduction.

Jordi: So, you are recently taking over the responsibility of head of marketing at Interface.ai. Tell us what you do over there and what Interface.ai does.

Chris: I've been in the conversational AI space for about six to eight years. Interface.ai has been around for nine years, leading the way in conversational AI for banking and fintech, primarily focused on credit unions and regional banks. Our solutions enable 24/7 customer support through automation, allowing banks and credit unions to support their members efficiently. We aim to educate the market on the right solutions and help them navigate the numerous options available.

Jordi: You've helped several NLP companies. How do you think large language models have changed the landscape?

Chris: Large language models have significantly changed the landscape. Previously, NLP focused on understanding human intent and required specific training. Now, generative AI creates responses, leading to more natural conversations. We're still in an early stage with some issues like hallucinations, but the technology is improving. Consumers are becoming comfortable with AI, and we're seeing a shift towards more sophisticated interactions.

Jordi: For startups in the generative AI space, what would be your advice for founders?

Chris: Focus on the customer and the market. Most startups need to iterate on existing problems rather than creating entirely new categories. Find a small, underserved niche and specialize in solving a specific problem. This approach helps gain traction and proves the value of your solution. It's essential to segment deeply and understand your ideal customer profile to succeed.

Jordi: Can you share some use cases where Growth Engine Labs has helped boost revenue?

Chris: Growth Engine Labs uses the GEM (Growth Engine Method) framework, focusing on understanding the customer. Effective growth programs often involve high-quality content to build trust and credibility. Successful startups invest in high-tempo testing and systematic approaches to marketing. Markets are dynamic, and continuous prioritization is crucial. We've seen the best results with a mix of quality content and constant market evaluation.

Jordi: What do you think is the future of AI?

Chris: The future of AI involves significant changes in user experiences and the rise of AI agents. The traditional web experience is evolving towards conversational interactions. We'll see more personal AI agents that assist with various tasks, improving productivity and efficiency. Specialized AI will become more prevalent, addressing specific industry needs and enhancing existing solutions.
